A constant chromomagnetic field leads (Probably) to the real QCD ground state

Summary

Recent criticisms raised against the finding of the « essential instability » of the perturbative ground state of a Yang Mills theory are analysed and shown to be unfounded. A brief description is given of a computation of the effective potential inSU 2lattice gauge theory which supports what has been found in the continuum theory. A short discussion of the consequences of our results upon the solution of the problems of colour confinement and hadronic behaviour is also presented.
