Abstract

The results of an experimental investigation of the interaction of finite-amplitude saw-tooth sound waves (with a sound pressure level of 170 dB) with an axisymmetric supersonic air jet are presented. It is shown that the passage of sound waves through the jet is accompanied by sound refraction on averaged-flow nonuniformities, interaction between the sound and shock waves, and diffraction.
