Summary
The variation of the critical slab thickness in monoenergetic neutron transport theory is studied. TheF N method is used to solve, for the case of specified isotropic scattering, the critical problem. The results obtained for the critical thickness are tabulated for selected illustrative cases in comparison with results obtained using Case’s method. Numerical results given in the tables show that the critical thickness increases monotonically with increasing forward anisotropic scattering.
