Weak-interaction corrections to the electromagnetic interactions of leptons

Summary

In order to examine the structure of weak interactions we have calculated the effects of the higher-order weak interactions on the electromagnetic properties of the charged leptons both in theVA form of the phenomenological Lagrangian theory of Fermi and in the vector boson theory. It is found that the vector boson theory gives a contribution of ∼ 0.25.10-6 to the union’s anomalous magnetic moment and a small parity nonconserving part to the electromagnetic current. The expected anomalous magnetic moment correction in the phenomenological Lagrangian theory is surprisingly absent. Experimental consequences are discussed.

Allo Scopo di esaminare la struttura delle interazioni deboli, si sono calcolati gli effetti delle interazioni deboli di ordine più elevato Sulle proprietà elettromagnetiche dei leptoni carichi sia nella formaVA della teoria fenomenologica lagrangiana di Fermi che nella teoria del bosone vettoriale. Si trova che la teoria del bosone vettoriale dà un contributo di ∼ 0.25. 10-6 al momento magnetico anomalo del muone e una piccola parte, che non conserva la parità, alla corrente elettromagnetica. Stranamente la prevista correzione del momento magnetico anomalo é assente nella teoria fenomenologica lagrangiana. Si discutono le conseguenze sperimentali.
