Single excitations in mass-eight nuclei

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

The single excitations in mass-eight nuclei are classified according to theSU3 coupling scheme, and the mean energies of the lowlying states computed. Three dipole states are found to exist in beryllium, one corresponding to a longitudinal oscillation along the axis of symmetry, and two to transverse vibrations. The division of dipole strength from the ground state to these excited states is calculated.
