Associated Production of Σ⁰ and K ⁺_μ2

Summary

A direct evidence for the associated production of a Σ⁰ along with a K ⁺_μ2 has been obtained. The most interesting feature of the picture is that, besides showing the decays of a Λ⁰(→ π^-+ p) and K ⁺_μ (→ μ⁺+v) it shows the materialization of the photon resulting from Σ⁰→ Λ⁰+ γ. The values of the energy of the emitted photon as derived from the decay dynamics and also from the energies of the soft electrons produced by it agree remarkably well. An overall energy balance is obtained for the whole event which is represented by the following reaction

Si è ottenuta una prova diretta delia produzione associata di un Σ⁰ con un K ⁺_μ2 -La caratteristica più interessante del quadro è che oltre a mostrare i decadimenti di un Λ⁰(→π^-+p) e di un K ⁺_μ (→μ⁺+v) mostra la materializzazione del fotone risuitante dalla reazione Σ⁰→Λ⁰+γ. I valori dell’energia del fotone emesso, quale risulta dalla, dinamica del decadimento nonchè dalle energie degli elettroni molli prodotti si accordano assai bene.
