Summary
6, 252 pre-school children were examined from 56 villages of Subdega tribal block for assessment of their nutritional status. Assessment was done by recording the weight and plotting it on a weight chart. The total population of this block was 38,756, out of which children in the age group of 0 to 6 years constituted 6,252 i.e., 16.13%. Out of this child population, 42.2% were found to be normal, whereas 57.8% were malnourished, out of which 34.4% belonged to Gr. I malnutrition and 16.4% to Gr. II, 4.7% to Gr. III and 1.9% to Gr. IV malnutrition.
