Measurements of the strong interaction in τ decays

Summary

Recent results on studies of the strong interaction using decays of the τ lepton as a tool are presented. Topics covered include measurements of the strong-coupling constant, αs, using the ratio of the hadronic to leptonic total widths of the τ and spectral moments of the hadronic invariant-mass distribution, determinations of hadronic structure functions in τ decays to three charged pions, and the extraction of parameters of the a1(1260) meson using various models.
