Smoothed Veneziano models and applications to pion-pion scattering

Summary

We investigate linear smoothing of the Veneziano formula and gradually develop models with the second-sheet resonance poles, unitarity branch cuts, and proper partial-wave threshold behaviour, which retain many of the usual desirabl]Literature analytic and asymptotic properties. A simple version of the model is applied phenomenologically to pion-pion scattering, and is shown to be in qualitative agreement with most of the data.
