Summary

  1. 1.

The Indian lierature on the incidence of rheumatic infection, rheumatic heart disease and rheumatic nodules has been reviewed.

  2. 2.

A clinical study on rheumatic nodules based on 181 cases of juvenile rheumatism has been presented.

  3. 3.

The incidence of rheumatic nodules is 82%. From a comparison of the corresponding figures of different workers in different countries it appears that acute rheumatism in Bengal, if not in India, follows closely that in the temperate zones, namely, Europe and U.
