Summary

A formulation of nuclear-structure theory in relative co-ordinates is given. Matrix elements of a two-body force Hamiltonian, and of one-body operators, for theN-particle problem, are expressed in terms of quantities, which refer to the (N−1)-particle problem, by means of the 〈N|N−1〉 fractional-parentage coefficients.
