Summary
Space charge effects in transport channels may be suppressed by using neutralized beams with equal currents of negative and positive ions. Variations of beam envelopes in strong focusing channels result in an increase of the incoherent oscillation frequency with the current. The frequency of the quardrupole coherent oscillations increases as well and it moves to the resonance appearing due to strong focusing. Moreover, the beam perveance is limited by non-linear coherent resonances of the same kind as in uniform beams. Space charge limitations with account of all these effects have been calculated.
