Equivalent-photon method for inelastic scattering of electrons on a photon target

Summary

It is shown that the equivalent-photon method relates the cross-section for the inelastic process e+γ→e+X to the cross-section for real two-photon annihilation into hadrons. An estimate is given for this electroproduction cross-section by taking into account the resonance and diffractive regions for photon-photon annihilation into hadrons.
