Summary
The possible existence of a fourth quark generation is considered within the context of the exponential parametrization of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix. A specific hypothesis for the quark flavour mixing hierarchy is suggested, leading to an interesting structure of the mixing matrix. The weak-interaction eigenstates are deduced in exact form.
