Summary
We criticize a recent analysis of baryon β-decays by Jaffe and Manohar, coming to opposite conclusions: we show how data on axial charges coming from asymmetries and rates do not disagree, and how, with a proper averaging procedure, evidence begins to emerge for first-orderSU(3) violations, as advocated by Lipkin.
