LNL neutron production scattering chamber based on the7Li(p, n)7Be reaction

Summary

The characteristics and tests of a fast neutron production and scattering chamber assembly is presented here, based on the7Li(p, n)7Be reaction(s). This assembly, which consists of a small vacuum scattering chamber designed to house home-made LiF targets and a SSB detector to monitor the target thickness (yield), has been tested at various proton energies, starting from 1.95 MeV, on the 7 MV CN Van de Graaff accelerator of the INFN-Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro (Padova), Italy.
