Quantum mechanics as a consequence of the dipole interaction

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento B (1971-1996)

Summary

The medium from dipolesd with equiprobable directions is considered. The dipoles are polarized to get a dipole moment along the field βE. By supposing that the medium densityn is quite strong so that the dielectric permeability is well more than unity, 4πnβ≫1, the average potential energy (−−dE) of the dipole in the collective electric fieldE is calculated. The formula for the energy is proportional to the Bohm potentialV q ∼Δ√n/√n. According to the Madelung transformation, the hydrodynamics equations are equivalent to the Schrödinger equation. The phase of ψ-function in the theory is proportional to the veritable classical action. The electrodynamic sense of the surface stress tensor is found. Self-interaction of a quantum charged particle is similar to photon interaction. It is shown that a rotating charge has an angular momentum equivalent to the spin ħ/2.
