λϕ 4 in ν dimensions

Summary

A unified treatment of theλϕ 4 theory in any number of dimensions (ν) is given, within the scheme of dimensional regularization. Use is made of the Gaussian approximation and a comparison with the one-loop effective potential is given in different dimensions. For fixed renormalized quantities, there are cases (in particular for ν⇒4) for which the bare parameters go to zero. Nevertheless the corrections (Gaussian or perturbative) are such that the final results are finite.

Si tratta in modo unificato la teoriaλϕ 4 per ogni numero di dimensioni, nell'ambito dello schema di regolarizzazione dimensionale. Si fa uso dell'approssimazione gaussiana e si fa un confronto con il potenziale efficace ad un loop in diverse dimensioni. Per quantità rinormalizzate fisse ci sono casi (in particolare per ν→4) per cui i parametri nudi si annullano. Tuttavia le correzioni (Gaussiane o perturbative) sono tali che i risultati finali sono finiti.
