Amylase activity of cerebrospinal fluid and serum in neurological disorders

  • Published:
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The amylase activity in C.S.F. of normal subjects was much lower than the corresponding serum values, and ranged between 6.5 and 9.5 SU per 100 ml.

The amylase activity of C.S.F. from cases of meningism was slightly raised above the normal, but the difference was not significant. The C.S.F. from cases of tuberculous and septic meningitis showed markedly elevated amyloclastic activity with average values of 65.5 SU and 186.3 SU per 100 ml. respectively.
