Summary
In the framework of the extended elastic model III the fusion process at sub-barrier energy is considered as the shadow of elastic scattering so that the elastic differential cross-section can be obtained from the knowledge of the fusion cross-section and vice versa. Moreover the ratio between the range of strong interaction in the fusion process and the minimum value of the distance of closest approach relative to an effective Coulomb potential is a universal constant.
