Čerenkov-like radiation from a nambu string

Summary

We analytically calculate the Čerenkov radiation from a closed string arising from the Nambu action as a solution of a circularly oscillating closed string in an isotropic, permeable medium with index of refraction\(\sqrt {\mu \varepsilon } \). A numerical analysis of the expression is also given. The problem is treated from a quantum-mechanical viewpoint.
