Higgs and top mass predictions in GUT models with fixed-point solutions

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1971-1996)

Summary

We study fixed-point solutions inSU(5) andSO(10) super-symmetric grand unified models. For theSU(5) model with a single largeh t coupling constant we find 155GeV≤m t≤200 GeV. For 155GeV≤m t≤175GeV we find that the Higgs boson is lighter thanM Z. TheSU(5) andSU(10) fixed-point solutions with largeh t andh b coupling constants give a top-quark massm h=180–190 GeV and a Higgs boson massm h=118–120 GeV (forM SUSY=1 TeV). From the requirement of the absence of a Landau pole singularity up to the Planck scale we find an upper bound on the top massm t≤209 GeV in theSU(5) model andm t≤193 GeV for theSO(10) model.
