Positrons annihilation in water and ice with an external magnetic field

Summary

The angular distribution of 2γ annihilation of positrons in water and in ice has been measured with a 15 kG magnetic field. Measurements show that the magnetic field enhances the narrow component of the angular distribution in water. The angular distribution in ice seems to be not influenced by the magnetic field.

Riassunto

É stata misurata la distribuzione angolare degli annichilamenti in 2 γ di positroni in acqua e ghiaccio in presenza di un campo magnetico di 15 kG. Le misure mostrano che il campo magnetico influisce sulla distribuzione angolare osservata in acqua aumentando il contributo della componente stretta. In ghiaccio la distribuzione angolare osservata non è influenzata dal campo magnetico entro gli errori sperimentali.
