Summary

A semi-inclusive analysis of multiparticle production in h-h collision at\(\sqrt s \)= 16.7 Gev is performed using a model-independent approach based on universal multifractals. The multiplicities range fromN ch=6 toN ch=20. The data have been collected at the Fermilab Tevatron. The multiple scaling of probability distributions is investigated first. Then universal multifractal forms for the codimension functionc(γ) and the moment's scaling functionK(q), are derived and the Lévy index α, the degree of multifractality, is experimentally determined together with the codimension of the mean fieldC 1. The data display Log-Lévy-type statistics with bounded singularities, the peculiarities of a conditionally soft/hard multifractal process. The degree of multifractality increases with increasing multiplicity, but our data are not inconsistent with α remaining below unity.
