The λ0-decay asymmetry parameter and the K-λ parity

Summary

Both the sign and magnitude of the asymmetry parameter (α) in A→ p + π- decay have been determined by means of an investiaation of the λ-decay proton scattering angle distribution in liquid helium. The best value of α is 0.66±0.20. The significance of the result in connection with the determination of the relative K-λ parity is also discussed.

Sono stati determinati sia il segno che il modulo del parametro di asimmetria (α) nel decadimento λ → p + π-, mediante una ricerca sulla distribuzione dell‘angolo di scattering del protone di decadimento del λ0 in elio liquido. Il miglior valore di α è 66±.20. Si discute inoltre questo risultato in relazione con la determinazione della parità relativa K-A.
