Lepton conservation laws and the existence of two neutrinos

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

The existence of four independent neutrino states is related to the two conservation laws for leptons. The first is the usual law of lepton conservation, associated with gauge transformations of the fields, while the second is derived from the γ5 gauge transformations of the neutrino field. The experimental basis of these laws is discussed.
