The lee model applied to the virtual deuteron

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

In a previous paper the Lee model with cut-off has been applied to the normal state of the deuteron; in the present paper this same model is applied to the virtual (singlet) state. For this case it is found that the poles of the n-p scattering amplitude all occur on the unphysical sheet. The chief contribution to the amplitude at low energies arises from a pole on the real axis at 66 keV below threshold ; the position of this pole is interpreted as the « mass » of the virtual deuteron.
