Circular polarization of bremsstrahlung produced in high-energy collisions of electrons with polarized protons

Summary

The purpose of this paper is to calculate the circular polarization of bremsstrahlung emitted in the high-energy collision of an unpolarized electron with a proton which is initially polarized in an arbitrary direction. We have taken into account the effect of the anomalous magnetic moment and the recoil of the proton but have neglected the matrix element for the bremsstrahlung of the proton and so our formula is valid when the angle between the directions of the electron and the photon is of the order ofmc 2/E (m andE being the mass and energy of the electron, respectively).

Scopo di questo articolo è di calcolare la polarizzazione circolare della bremsstrahlung emessa in una collisione di alta energia di un elettrone non polarizzato con un protone che è inizialmente polarizzato in una direzione arbitraria. Si è tenuto conto dell‘effetto del momento magnetico anomalo e del rinculo del protone ma si è trascurato l‘elemento di matrice per la bremsstrahlung del protone e perciÒ la nostra formula è valida quando l‘angolo fra le direzioni dell‘elettrone e del fotone è dell‘ordine dimc 2/E (m edE sono rispettivamente la massa e l‘energia dell‘elettrone).
