Summary
An improved differential cross-section for hard collisions between hadrons, appropriate for jets in minimum bias physics, is proposed. The essential ingredient is the final-state interaction between the active and spectator partons. Indeed, thanks to the orthogonality between initial and final states, it is shown that the critical dependence of the jet cross-section on a cut-off parameter—which one is usually faced with—is smoothed off. The treatment is extended to the case of multiple partonic scattering. Further-more a simple parametrization of the minijet differential cross-section is suggested.
