Summary
Although duodenal biopsy is not yet a common procedure, this paper points the direction to new methods for studying the duodenum, including the use of a new fiberduodenoscope. As in the stomach, where even minute changes can be observed and interpreted, the duodenum will be clarified morphologically and functionally in the near future. When this is achieved, malabsorption syndrome, duodenitis and pancreatitis will be studied more effectively.
