Veneziano-type representations for the form factors and the couplings of heavy vector mesons

Summary

A Veneziano-type formula for the pion electromagnetic form factor is re-examined, in light of new experimental information. It is found that a simultaneous fit to the asymptotic behaviour and to the couplings of photons to vector mesons is possible if only the even-daughter vector poles are allowed to couple to the photon. The couplings of vector mesons to the nucleon are discussed with a similar assumption for the isovector Dirac form factor. We observe a universal coupling for the vector meson π1.

Si riesamina una formula del tipo di Veneziano per il fattore di forma elettromagnetico del pione, alla luce delle nuove informazioni sperimentali. Si trova che un’approssimazione simultanea al comportamento asintotico ed agli accoppiamenti dei fotoni a mesoni vettoriali è possibile se si permette soltanto ai poli vettoriali dei discendenti pari di accoppiarsi al fotone. Si discutono gli accoppiamenti dei mesoni vettoriali al nucleone con un’ipotesi simile per il fattore di forma di Dirac isovettoriale. Si osserva un accoppiamento universale per il mesone vettoriale π1.

В свете новой экспериментальной информации заново исследуется формула типа формулы Венециано для электромагнитного форм-фалтора пиона. Получается, что одновременная подгонка асимптотического поведения и связей фотонов с векторными мезонами оказывается возможной, если допускается связь только четных дочерних векторных полюсов с фотоном. Обсуждаются связи векторных мезонов с нуклоном при аналогичном предположении для изовекторного форм-фактора Дирака. Мы наблюдаем универсальную связь для векторного мезона π1.
