Summary
The proton spectrum in p-p inclusive reactions is described as being made up of two components: one of a quasi-diffractive type, and one analogous to the spectrum of a produced particle. With an exponential form exp [as′/s] (wheres′ is the square of the missing mass) for the second component, we obtain a remarkably good fit to the experimental points at 14, 19 and 24 GeV/c in the interval 0.9≥x 0≥0.5 (wherex 0=1−s′/s) and |t|<1 (GeV/c)2. The interpretation of this spectrum with a conventional RRP term is shown to be difficult.
