On some important characteristics of VHF radio-emission associated with large extensive air showers

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

Experimental studies of radio-emission are done at 110 MHz and 220 MHz frequency in the VHF region using sophisticated detection and data acquisition system. Results obtained on i) frequency spectrum and lateral distribution of field strength, ii) variation of field strength (E) with height of shower maximum (H m), iii) frequency distribution of depth of shower maximum (X m) are presented and are compared with theoretical calculations. An attempt is made to estimate primary mass composition by radio method.
