Strong pion correlation in target fragmentation region observed in «cold» events produced in12C-emulsion interaction at 4.5A GeV/c

Summary

The paper presents a study of two-particle pseudorapidity correlation among the showers produced in those events where a quark gluon plasma (QGP) might be formed in the participant region due to12C-emulsion interaction at 4.5A GeV/c. By comparing the transverse-momentum distribution of the projectile alpha-particles with double Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution, two temperatures,i.e. 10 MeV and 40 MeV, were obtained. It was found that the two temperatures belonged to different events having different reaction mechanism and the events having 10 MeV temperature were classified as QGP events. A strong two-particle inclusive correlation is observed in the target fragmentation region for QGP events quite interestingly.
