Nitrogen isotope identification by Bragg-curve spectroscopy

  • Published:
Lettere al Nuovo Cimento (1971-1985)

Summary

Projectilelike fragments following the 80 MeV16O +27A1 reaction have been detected using a Bragg-curve spectroscopy ionization chamber (BCS-IC). The atomic number is deduced from the Bragg-peak amplitude. Nitrogen isotopes are clearly resolved using either range or energy loss data. This is the first application of the BCS method for complete ion identification in a heavy-ion—induced reaction.
