A parametrization of the transverse-momentum distribution in hadron collisions

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

We present an empirical parametrization of particle production data in hadron collisions whereby we account for the limited trasverse-momentum distribution of emitted particles (centered around 0.3 GeV/c) in terms of the uncertainty relation, Δx TΔp t≥ħ/2. By making a precise, consistent definition of the conjugate spatial co-ordinate, we are able (contrary to an earlier suggestion) to account for the dependence of the center in thep Tdistribution of incident momentum and type of projectile in close agreement with experiment.
