A Monte Carlo study of the giant quadrupole resonance

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

Giant nuclear resonances are large excitations of the atomic nucleus. There is an electric-monopole modeE0, electric-dipole modeE1, electric-quadrupole modeE2, and also higher-order resonances. The giant quadrupole oscillation is studied using the Monte Carlo method. Numerical uncertainties in the calculation procedure and differences between the parallel and full ensemble methods are noted.
