Particle-particle angular correlations in three-body reactions

Summary

A description of the differential cross-section for three-body reactions with the assumption of sequential decay, X(a, b)Y*(c)Z, is given. In the case where the b-particle is detected at 0° relative to the incident beam, the angular correlation can be factorized into a term, depending on the first step of the process, which determines the populations of the various magnetic substates of Y*, and a term which describes 1) the angular distribution of the sequential decay, 2) the probability that the Y* nucleus decays through thec-channels, depending on the angular momenta and parities and on the detailed structure of the states of Y* respectively. Some applications of the formalism to the12C(6Li, d)16O(α)12C and13C(6Li, d)17O(α)13C reactions are given.

Si presenta una descrizione della sezione d’urto differenziale per una reazione a tre particelle finali nell’ipotesi di decadimento sequenziale a+X→b+Y*→b+c+Z. Nel caso semplificante in cui la particella b viene rivelata a 0° rispetto al fascio incidente la correlazione angolare viene data dal prodotto di una parte dipendente dall’interazione, che determina la popolazione dei sottostati del sistema intermedio Y*, e di una parte che descrive 1) la distribuzione angolare del decadimento, dipendente dal momento angolare e dalla parità dello stato Y*; 2) la probabilità di decadimento da tale stato nei vari stati di c e Z, dipendente dalla struttura interna del sistema Y*≡c+Z. Si considerano alcune applicazioni del formalismo alle reazioni12C(6Li, d)16O(α)12C e13C(6Li, d)17O(α)13C.

Предлагается описание дифференциального поперечного сечения для тер∧частичных реакций в предположении последовательного распада X(a, b)Y*(c)Z. В случае, когда уастица в детектируется под 0° относительно падающего пучка, угловая корреляция может быть представлена в виде произведения двуз членов: члена, зависящего от первого этапа процесса, который определяет заселенность различных магнитных подсостояний Y*, и члена, который описывает: 1) угловое распределение последовательного распада; 2) вероятность того, что ядро Y* распадается черезc-каналы, завиящие соответственно от моментов и четностей и от подробной структуры состояний Y*. Приводятся некоторые приложения предложенного формализма для реакций12C(6Li, d)16O(α)12C и13C(6Li, d)17O(α)13C.
