Summary
The total cross-section of γ-nucleus scattering is investigated in the region of the Δ++-resonance. By using the optical theorem the cross-section can be expressed in terms of the imaginary part of the Compton scattering amplitude. The last quantity is calculated by a spectator expansion at first order. Nuclear-structure effects are all contained in the spectral function of the considered nucleus. Moreover, terms which involve two nucleons at a time are introduced in an approximate way and their contributions turn out to be very small. Results are compared to the available experimental data for the nuclei4He,12C and16O.
