Inelastic pion-nucleon interactions at 7.3 GeV in emulsion

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

The angular distribution of secondary pions produced in pion-nucleon collisions at 7.3 GeV was investigated. The angular distribution was found to be nearly symmetric in the π-π center-of-mass system for events of small multiplicity (n = 1, 2) and significantly asymmetric for higher multiplicities (n ≥ 3). Assuming events of small and high multiplicity to be π-π and π-core collisions, respectively, the radius of the nucleon core was estimated to be rc≤0.7-10-13 cm.
