On the decay of heavy Regge recurrences

Summary

The Brower and Harte theorem on the asymptotic behaviour of infinitely rising Regge trajectories is re-examined with the effect of the resonance widths taken into account. It is found that in this case the asymptotic behaviour of the trajectory is not restricted to Re$\alpha (s) \leqslant c\sqrt s$ provided that the number of decay products goes to infinity with the mass of the decaying hadron. Further implications of the inclusion of the widths are discussed.

Si riesamina il teorema di Brower e Harte sul comportamento asintotico delle traiettorie di Regge che crescono infinitamente tenendo conto dell'effetto delle ampiezze delle risonanze. Si trova che in questo caso il comportamento asintotico della traiettoria non è limitato a Re$\alpha (s) \leqslant c\sqrt s$ purché il numero dei prodotti di decadimento tenda all'infinito con la massa dell'adrone che decade.
