Summary
Anomalies in Ward identities for arbitrary Lie groups are investigated. In general two types of anomalies are found: one of them is that calculated by Bardeen in spinor theory and the other one consists of functions of the gauge field covariant curl alone. The semi-simple compact Lie groups do not possess the latter type. In particular, forG ⊗G groups it is always possible to have Ward identities without vector anomalies and for the axial anomaly one recovers again the spinor-theory result.
