Si studia il problema della cattura di un mesone μ negativo legato in un'orbitaK assumendo che esso interagisca con i protoni del nucleo tramite un campo mesonico pseudoscalare e prendendo in considerazione il solo termine pseudoscalare dell'hamiltoniano d'interazione. Si trova che, contrariamente a quanto era stato previsto, non è da aspettarsi una dipendenza del tempo di cattura daZ ⁻ⁿ conn maggiore di4. Si accenna alla diversità che le interazioni scalari e pseudoscalari comportano nel problema dell'eccitazione del nucleo.

Summary

The reaction of negatively charged mesons with atomic nuclei is examined on the ipothesis that the process involved is the transition (2) of the text with pseudoscalar mesons: only the pseudoscalar term of the interaction is considered. Contrarily to what had been foreseen, the probability of the reaction is, in this case also, proportional, for the lightest nuclei, to the fourth power of the atomic number. The influence of the pseudoscalar theory on the problem of nuclear excitation is studied.
