Angular distributions in the reaction⁴He(γ),p ³H

Summary

The angular distribution of over 3500 protons from the reaction⁴He(γ, p)³H has been measured in the photon energy range 23 MeV to 32 MeV, using the photographic plate method. The distribution is well described in the cm. system by an expression of the formf(Φ) =B(1 +C cos Φ+D cos² Φ) sin² Φ, with the value of C approximately equal to 0.5, and showing little appreciable variation with energy. The value ofD is not very critical, even at the highest energies, and no constant term is necessary inf(Φ).
