A study of semi-inclusive gamma production in charged-current antineutrino-nucleon interactions

Summary

The results of a study of gamma production in antineutrino-nucleon interactions observed in the Fermilab 15 ft bubble chamber filled with a neon-hydrogen mixture are presented. From a sample of 706 gamma-rays we obtained the dependence of the average number of produced π0,s on negative multiplicity, momentum transfer and hadronic invariant mass. We find that the mean transverse momentum of the gamma-rays is independent of the above variables but has an asymmetric distribution with respect to the Feynman variablex. The invariant gamma cross-section distributions, the distribution functionD for π0,s and the energy spectrum of π0,s reconstructed from the gamma spectrum are also reported.

Si presentano i risultati di uno studio della produzione di gamma in interazioni antineutrino-nucleone osservate nella camera a bolle di 15 ft del Fermilab riempita con una miscela di neon ed idrogeno. Da un campione di 706 raggi gamma si è ottenuta la dipendenza del numero medio di π0 prodotti dalla multiplicità negativa, dall'impulso trasferito e dalla massa adronica, invariante. Si trova che l'impulso trasverso medio dei raggi gamma è indipendente dalle variabili di cui sopra, ma ha una distribuzione asimmetrica rispetto alla variabilex di Feynman. Приводятся результаты исследований образования гамма-квантов в антинейтрино-нуклонных взаимодействиях, наблюденных в лаборатории Ферми на 15-футовой пузырьковой камере, наполненной неон-водородной смесью. Из анализа 706 гамма-квантов мы получили зависимость среднего числа образованных π0 от отрицательной множественности, переданного импульса и адронной инвариантной массы. Мы определили, что средний переданный импульс гамма-квантов не зависит от выше указанных переменных, но имеет асимметричное распределение относительно фейнмановской переменнойx. Также приводятся инвариантные гамма-распределения поперечных сечений, функция распределенияD для π0 и энергетический спектр π0, реконструированный из гамма-спектра.
