Summary

Charge radii of nucleons are studied in the context of a quark parton model by using Sehgal's hypothesis of nonfactorizable transverse distribution of partons. It is shown that the observed negative sign and the finite magnitude of the squared neutron charge radius, <r 2n >=−(0.16÷0.11) fm2, can be reconciled if different, spatial distributions are assumed for the u and d quarks inside a nucleon.

Si studiano i raggi di carica dei nucleoni nel contesto di un modello a quark partoni usando l'ipotesi di Sehgal di distribuzioni trasverse non fattorizzabili di partoni. Si mostra che il segno negativo osservato e la grandezza finita del raggio di carica neutronica quadrata, <r 2n >=−(0.16÷0.11) fm2, possono essere conciliati se si ammettono distribuzioni spaziali diverse per i quark u e d dentro un nucleone.
