Large-transverse-momentum correlations in quantum chromodynamics

Summary

The QCD approach to large-transverse-momentum inclusive single-hadron production is extended to two-hadron correlations. Detailed comparisons with the data on transverse-momentum sharing (x e) distributions are presented; it is shown that the scale violations in the parton fragmentation functions are of essential importance in obtaining agreement with experiment. Opposite-side rapidity distributions are also presented and the question of back-to-back effects is discussed. It is concluded that, on the whole, QCD adequately describes the data.

Si estende l'approccio QCD alla produzione inclusiva ad adrone singolo con impulso trasversale alto a correlazioni a due adroni. Si presentano confronti dettagliati con i dati sulle distribuzioni delle suddivisioni (x e) dell'impulso trasversale; si mostra che le violazioni di scala nelle funzioni di frammentazione dei partoni sono d'importanza essenziale per ottenere l'accordo con gli esperimenti. Si presentano anche le distribuzioni di rapidità a lato opposto e si discute la questione degli effetti back-to-back. Si conclude che, nel complesso, la QCD descrive i dati in maniera adeguata.

Подход квантовой хромодинамики, развитый для инклюзивного одно-адронного рождения с большими поперечными импульсами, обобщается на случай двух-адронных корреляций.
