Summary

Sixty four cases of Crohn’s disease were diagnosed. From our results reported here, the following conclusions were confirmed:

  1. 1)

Crohn’s disease as reported in Western countries certainly occurs amongjapanese, too.

  2. 2)

The most characteristic feature of Crohn’s disease in Japanese patients was a long longitudinal ulcer along the mesenteric attachment of the small intestine, in addition to a cobblestone appearance.

  3. 3)

In establishing the diagnosis of Crohn’s disease, it was most important to distinguish Crohn’s disease from intestinal tuberculosis.
