Elastic and inelastic scattering of 0.8 GeV polarized protons from18O

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

Differential cross-sections and analyzing powers have been measured for a number of states in the18O(p, p’)18O reaction at 800 MeV. The ground-state rotational band (0+, 0.0 MeV; 2+, 1.98 MeV; and 4+, 7.11 MeV) has heen analyzed via a coupled-channels calculation based on the Dirac equation; the results are compared with previous results based on the Schrödinger equation. Data for the 0+, 2+, 4+ triplet around 3.7 MeV are generally poorly fitted with vibrational model calculations. Angular-momentum transfers are determined for a number of higher states up to 12.5 MeV.
