Reactions of methylated quercetin derivatives with singlet molecular oxygen

Abstract

The rate constants of the reactions of1O2 with 3,5,7,3′,4′-pentamethoxy-, 3-hydroxy-5,7,3′,4′-tetramethoxy-, and 5-hydroxy-3,7,3′,4′-tetramethoxyflavones in benzene were measured. The methylation of quercetin was found to result in an increase in the rate due to the enhancement of the electron-donating activity of the molecules.
